A Charming Stennack Farm Wedding With a Wild and Wonderful Godrevey Beach Adventure

If you are looking for a wedding venue that combines rustic charm with a boho chic vibe then Stennack Farm may be the venue for you. It’s peaceful location and purpose built, charming barn offers the prefect space for a day of celebration in the peaceful countryside, but also just a stones throw from the wild Cornish coast.

Bridal Prep and Special Family Moments

The bridal party opted to get ready on the open planned first floor of the Stennack Barn. A granite stone converted barn that sleeps ten and overlooks the courtyard that is the heart of the venue. Tarrian’s hair and makeup was done in front of the Juliette style window that overlooks this courtyard, meaning that she could watch the pre-ceremony preparations slowly come to life in front of her while she was being pampered. She chose to bring her dress up to the first floor to get dressed as the space is much lighter and airier than the rooms on the ground floor. Ethan’s Nanny was the chosen aid to help Tarrian into her dress, quite an emotional moment for all present. This is also the perfect space to complete a first look and Tarrian did just that with first her dad walking up the stairs and turning to see her, dressed and ready for her big moment, flowed by her bridesmaids who also got their first look at the beautiful bride.

A Heartfelt Ceremony

Tarrian and Ethan had chosen to have a second shooter work with me for the ceremony and for a short while after. This gives the advantage of having your ceremony shot from all different angles and while I will always endeavour to do this when working on my own, the reassurance of another shooter being able to get to certain spots and see different angles means that often more than one reaction and emotion can be caught at one time. Their ceremony was beautiful, with me capturing the action from the front. I am always on the look out for the reaction of the guests during a ceremony as well as focussing on the happenings between the couple saying their vows. There was plenty of emotion to capture during this ceremony and especially as the couple spoke their personal vows to each other.

Your Children in Your Photos

As with any couple on their wedding day who have their children with them, I always suggest a small photoshoot with the whole family. One of the main things I hear from parents is that their child wont stand and look at the camera, and nor should they have to. My suggestion is always to go for a walk or an adventure where they can hold your hands, be swung in the air and can also maybe play a little game to try and get their true authentic self in the photographs. I was a primary school teacher for 12 years and I love working with little people, so I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to make this important feature of your photographs fun, light hearted and hopefully as memorable in real life as it is in the photographs.

A Wild and Windy Beach Adventure

Despite it being the end of November, Tarrian and Ethan were very keen to take a short trip (just 10 minutes) to the nearest beach on the North coast, Gwithian. I know the area well from recent family holidays and so I was delighted at this prospect. It was cold and very windy but this did not deter the couple as Tarrian tackled the stony path down to the beach and opted to go for little rock climbing in her white block heels. It was totally worth it for the shots though and there was an added extra surprise of a seal popping up to watch the beautiful bride and her new husband as they strolled hand in hand along the sand and stood gazing amazed back at him. A core memory for sure!

Bridal Party Champagne Spray

On returning back to the venue, the speeches and food took part. My second shooter had stayed at the venue while we had dashed away on our beach adventure meaning that she caught lots of candid shots of the guests all mingling about the reception.

Once the pizza had been demolished, the couple decided to go for a champagne spray and some sparkler shots of the couple, bridesmaids and groomsmen. This is something that can often be done with more guests or in the case of sparklers, of all of your guests, however it is sometimes nice to get these shots of your nearest and dearest so you can look back and see how much fun their brought to your day for you.

An Unforgettable Evening

By now it was well and truly dark outside and the party in the barn had started to ramp up. The dancing was in full swing with Ethan’s five year old nephew stealing the show with his slick moves and captivating charm.

In all, Tarrian and Ethan’s wedding epitomises my favourite kind of wedding, rustic and elegant, relaxed but adventurous and with a whole lot of love and fun!
