Trevenna Barns was the beautiful blue-sky setting for Heather & Matt's Autumnal Wedding

Heather and Matt chose mid November for their Trevenna Barns Wedding and they could not have wished for a better day! It was one of those beautiful, fresh but sunny winter’s days; my favourite kind of day! I was lucky enough to arrive just as Archie, their golden retriever was being taken out for a leg stretch. You know it is going to be a good day when the first photos you take are handsome dog portraits to surprise the couple when they receive their gallery! Heather and Matt opted for their ceremony in the Mowhay Barn at Trevenna which was a treat for me as I am used to outside ceremonies at this venue or the occasional Threshing Barn ceremony. It is beautiful. Rustic but elegant and the light that we had shining through the glazed side of the barn threw such stunning shapes and shadows on the floor making it feel even more magical.

Once again, a reason why I love this venue is that there is space for both of the couple to get ready and the morning consisted of several opportunities to capture both Heather and Matt at various stages of their prep but also some really special moments of Matt and their 18 month old son, Eli, getting ready for the day ahead.

I love the steps down from the bridal suite into the Threshing Barn at Trevenna. I always think that it is one of those iconic shots that people see and instantly recognise the shot. Equally, it is always in my best interest to try not to emulate that shot but to try and make it unique for each and every bride that I see walk down those steps. I think Heather nailed it!

Eli was the star of the show when it came to the ceremony, and he happily wondered around and his mum and dad exchanged their vows and rings. He occasionally tried to drag Matt off and out of the barn, as for a tiny little person, it must have gone on a bit! I however, thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony with the addition of impromptu Disney songs from Roger Miners, piano player extraordinaire!

The reception was also held in Mohay with delicious warm spiced apple juice and we whisked outside in the clear but brisk and fresh wind to catch some confetti shots as well as group shots in the rockery. Finally, as the guests were being ushered into to the Threshing Barn for speeches and the wedding breakfast, I took Heather and Matt with Eli and Archie for a short walk to catch some family photos. The beauty of Trevenna is that you don’t have to go far. Every which way you look (or walk) you have such a stunning backdrop that there are so many options for dreamy photos.

The other bonus of be being their wedding photographer was that I have heaps of experience in photographing children and animals and so when Eli wasn’t too keen on having his photo taken, it wasn’t an issue… we played it his way and got lots of gorgeous, natural photos; which is actually how I prefer it!

The evening was a wonderful celebration featuring the outside log burner and s’mores, a first dance et trois (with Eli) and a grand finale of a sparkler tunnel. For a winter wedding with very short daylight hours, these guys really managed to pack in the fun and celebrations. And it is safe to say, that I love this venue just a little more each time I get to visit! Until next time!
