Wonwood Barton with it’s abundance of beautiful blooms was the backdrop for Angie & Craig
This is another wedding that has been on my list of places to shoot, and I was not disappointed. At the end of a whimsical, moor side lane is Wonwood Barton with its manicured lawns, rustically charming round house and a series of stunning outhouses known as the corner barn. The attention to detail at this family run venue is obvious from the moment you park and walk into the walled venue.
A Grand Entrance
As you arrive and walk into the courtyard, it feels like pure magic. Its mix of aged stone and whimsical, lush greenery that creates a space where every angle tells a story. The old creamery door makes a timeless backdrop for portraits, while the scattered seating invites candid, intimate shots. As dusk falls, the festoon lights cast a warm, golden glow — transforming the space into a scene that feels both cinematic and full of charm.
Bridal Prep Bliss
The accommodation at Wonwood Barton is full of character and charm — the kind of place where every corner catches the light just right. You are spoilt for choice when choosing which space to have your bridal prep in. Converted from the original stone farm buildings, the rooms still hold their rustic soul, but with all the light and space you need for you and your bridal party to get ready in.
Orchard Ceremony
Wonwood Barton has several different spaces that can be used for ceremonies. The Roundhouse itself, an indoor option for up to 80 guests, which can then be changed into your wedding breakfast space to seat up to 120 people. The Corner Barn with its cosy wood fire roaring in the winter months is perfect for smaller weddings and Elopements. The Greenfield is the perfect size for your marquee wedding (holding up to 130 guests) with views of across the moors. The option that Angie and Criag went for was the Pergola, nestled in between the orchard trees where the guests welcomed the shade of the trees on such a hot summer’s day.
The Round House
One of my favourite spaces at this venue has to be the Round House — the heart of Wonwood Barton, with the rest of the buildings gracefully gathered around it. On such a warm day, stepping into this cool, shaded space felt like a breath of fresh air. Angie and Craig had made it completely their own, filling the room with wildflower vases and handmade crochet favours that added such a personal touch. With fairy lights twinkling across the ceiling and guests seated together at long trestle tables, the atmosphere was intimate and full of warmth — the perfect setting for some truly heartfelt speeches.
Couple Shots in the Countryside
Whenever I photograph at a new venue, one of the first things I do on arrival is explore — scouting out those perfect little spots for couple portraits. Wonwood Barton made that job easy; I was completely spoilt for choice. Luckily, Angie and Craig were up for a bit of an adventure and trusted me to lead them around the grounds and nearby lanes in search of beautiful light and quiet moments together.
We captured some gorgeous portraits around the courtyard, wandered up the lane, and found ourselves in a long, golden grassy field that was pure magic. I always tell my couples that this part of the day is one of my favourites — when they can step away for a moment, breathe, and let it all sink in. It’s usually then, as I hang back with my long lens, that the “we’re married!” feeling truly hits them.
